December 2019.
My dream to publish short personal essays in a beautiful online format was made real five years ago on December 10, 2014.
I leaped with joy when people actually showed up at Curt’s Cafe that cold December night.
In May 2019, we celebrated Thread’s fifth anniversary at the Skokie Theatre to a sold-out house of 140. In addition to 14 beautiful issues totaling 84 essays, I’m SO proud of the three spots Thread earned on the notables list of Best American Essays.
My unending gratitude goes to those of you who have submitted your work, read or told your story on stage, showed up for a reading or supported this whole endeavor on social media.
All of it speaks to how art works best.
When we do it together.
